Flying a Spinnaker is a Child’s Game

So it *seems* flying a spinnaker isn’t that difficult, all you need is a Jacob for the helm and a Mike to know what he’s doing! It doesn’t look too complicated when you’re mostly just watching and learning, although I bet it is.

At long last after 5 years, the Witch has finally flown her beautiful blue kite. And guess what, it flies and is all still in once piece (although a bit wet due to a new bow leak).

Today was a cold and grey winter day, although not as cold as it has been recently and perfect wind wise which is a rarity in February around here. We were pretty much the only crazy people out on the water sailing, together with the fishermen rushing us back into the lock and a few frigates in the distance which Jacob used as a reference to keep us downwind (or was it an even smaller pot?) Either way an excellent job.

Overall a fantastic day out sailing and excellent preparation for the summer project.

Thank you Mike for showing me the ropes and inspiring me to copy cat you and fly this sail more often from now on
