The Strandhorst to Stavoren Video – Perfect days on the White Witch! After leaving her long-time harbour Strandhorst (http://www.strandhorst.com) yesterday the White Witch turned into a towboat helping out Rob and Lies van der Meer – a very nice Dutch couple – that had some trouble with the engine of their nice old Dutch Platbodemschip “Bolle Beertje” ahead of us in the Roggebotsluis on the way from Strandhorst to the Ketelmeer.
We towed them to Ketelhaven where we were invited over to join them and their cute tiger Teun for dinner on their nice, homey, and most comfortable boat where we enjoyed a most relaxing and entertaining evening with them!
After installing the main sail that had still been stored away from the winter stay ashore we continued our trip to the IJsselmeer on the next day in the morning passing the Ketelbrug that separates the IJsselmeer from the Ketelmeer and we decided to head to Stavoren instead of Urk as we had planned originally.
We were happy to experience ideal sailing conditions. The wind was perfect and the waves just not too high. We arrived in Stavoren at about 0830 lt and J. proved once more to be the perfect chef of our little kitchen. With some decent Portuguese red wine we relaxed for the rest of the evening onboard. It had been a perfect day on the White Witch!
